Not familiar with ‘Scrapbooking’? – then check out our latest feature on Sarah Hurley and all will be revealed – in an instant!
Sarah uses a Fujifilm Instax camera in much of her work, to see why, read on…
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’m an illustrator, craft product designer and writer, I live in Essex with my fiancé and my cute dog Belle (Fuzzybutt) I spend most days designing scrapbooking and craft products, creating fun projects for craft and lifestyle magazines and writing – I also photograph almost everything to document in my scrapbooks and on my blog!
Can you tell us more about the lovely projects you’ve recently been creating with your Instax?
I’ve started using my Instax pictures in scrapbooking projects, they are great for capturing candid moments, I love to scrap the unexpected as well as the more posed photographs so that my scrapbooks really tell the true story of my life and all the everyday moments as well as the special occasions. They are also the perfect size for mini albums which make great coffee table books (people can’t help but be nosy and look through them!) or gifts for people.
What is about this camera that you love? Who would it suit best?
I love that its so small and cute that you can take it anywhere and capture everything, it doesn’t seem as intrusive as my bigger camera. The fact that it’s instant means you don’t forget to print the pictures or they get lost somewhere on a memory card. You can also write straight on to the print so if you take a picture of someone they can sign it or doodle on it for you – everyone should have one!
Do you have any tips on how people can have fun using this camera?
Take it everywhere – you’ll soon find lots of moments you want to capture, someone’s expression, a funny moment, an unexpected meeting, a silly self portrait – show off the pictures you take too, people love to see those unscripted moments!
Do you have any upcoming projects in line for your Instax?
Yes! I’m working on a number of albums and scrapbook pages at the moment as well as a piece of home décor, I’m constantly thinking of new things to do – you’ll be seeing them all on my blog very soon!
