    hi there!
im writing here to ask you guyz, mostly proffecional photographers, what camera is suitable enough for some skilled, semi professional shooting.
nowadays i am using a couple of Zenith’s (ET for daily + Photosniper FS-3 for photohunting) with some different lenses (M42 ofc) and Moscow-5 for 6×9 and 6×6 films.
but all these camera’s settings range isn’t wide enough for me.
please, give me a few advices and a few cameras which are “cheap and cheerful”

p.s. im rly sorry for my english, it is not my native language ^^

I really does depend upon what is your main style of photography and if you wish to concentrate on 35mm or would like to use larger formats.

    i prefer 35 mm

Perhaps take a look at the Pentax K or Spotmatic – I think they used M42 mount. Otherwise the Fujica ST cameras always had good reviews.
I can’t recall, but did the later Prakticas have an M42 thread?

Prakticas have M39 threds as far as i know
M42 thread inst important in this case, because there are some adapters. For example i’ve got M42-Bajonett adapter to use Nikon’s lenses.
What about Nickon’s? FA, F3? Myabe some other models?
rly nice to use Nikon’s nowadays, they didnt change their bajonetts till 1950th and u can use modern lenses/flashlights with old cameras.

The earlier Praktica cameras used excellent M42 lenses made by various companies. (Examples are the Praktica MTL3 and MTL5 cameras – both now quite legendary and of good quality.) Later on, Prakticas started to use bayonet lens fitting. You can still see both types of Praktica camera for sale quite frequently on ebay.
    All the best, Peter.

Hello, late model Praktica’s are good cameras to start with. M42 or screw mount lens are plentiful and usually Cheap. Pentax are good as well, but usually cost more. There are also M42 Mamiya’s, Chinon’s and Ricoh cameras.

Just to be pedantic, the Pentax K series were bayonet fit, although all the spotmatics were M42 screw.

You can’t go wrong with a Pentax K1000 for 35mm. For MF have a look at Bronica or Mamiya.
