Public Group active 3 weeks, 2 days agoWell, there is a huge range of rangefinder-cameras so far. They are an alcove today, but still new ones are produced. Most famous: the CV-Bessas, the Zeiss-Ikon ZM and of course, the Leicas.
This may be a group for all kinds of rangefinder-photography. So, not only for 24x36mm, but also for 6×6, 6×7, or whatever you like!

Rangefinder-Photography 6 months agoBeen out and about making photographs of the Autumn colour which is particularly good this year. Used my Zeiss Ikon with my Distagon 18mm, Biogon 35mm and Sonnar 85mm lenses. Film of choice? Fuji Superia X-tra 400. Just love this time of year.

Rangefinder-Photography 6 months, 4 weeks agoI have scanned a few EP2 process darkroom prints I did some years ago for the Leica Postal Portfolios, all taken with my 1965 Leica M2– the boxing knockout was for a local newspaper, 50mm f 2 Summicron at full aperture on Konica VX400, the Hula Girls 1957 90mm f4 Elmar on Agfa Optima 200 and the Car Buffs on Kodak Gold 200 , 50m f2…[Read more]

Rangefinder-Photography 6 months, 4 weeks agoHave just acquired a Zeiss Distagon 18mm f4 ZM for Zeiss Ikon rangefinder. What a fab lens. The Zeiss viewfinder I acquired with it (both lens and finder are used but in lovely condition) is beautifully made, bright, clear and distortion free and am I really impressed by it. There are some real used bargains out there if you know where to look.…[Read more]

Rangefinder-Photography 7 months, 1 week agoI was GIVEN a load of FUJI FIL all well outdated but NOT STORED well so on testing some cassettes I cannot use it for PRINTS but it is good enough for ‘experiments’ and up loading to Computer Forums — well, I was out in our Town when I saw a ‘ Big Yellow Bird’ walking across into the Car Park at the bak of our High Street — I had my 1950′s…[Read more]

Rangefinder-Photography 7 months, 3 weeks agoHehe, I was saving for an M6 + 35 Summicron, then an Xpan caught my eye with 45 & 90mm lenses. I like the panoramic format, but still want an M6 and a couple of lenses, so I’m saving up again!

Rangefinder-Photography 7 months, 3 weeks agoI went on a Cruise for the first ever time, with Royal Caribbean ship ‘Grandeur of the Seas’ — we we nt around the Western Mediterranean. I took LEICA M2 for B&W and M6 for colour negative as I thought I would not need a vast array of SLR gear with extreme lenses, and I was correct — used mainly the 50m f2 Summicron and the 1966 Canadian 35mm…[Read more]

Rangefinder-Photography 8 months agoI have both the M7 and the M3, there is something about shooting with the M3 that seems so unique. The M7 with the light metering is flawless for exposure. You all mention some great lenses and I agree save up for […]

Rangefinder-Photography 9 months agoWe’re probably lucky to have B&W paper at all, let alone special sizes. I have a paper cutter in my darkroom so I can cut the sizes I need. All the scraps go in my paper safe for test use.

PentaxPete, we’ve talked on Flickr before if I recall!
You have quite a Leica history! I only bought my first actual Leica about two years ago and have been picking up things here and there since. I had the Bessa first, for several years and it failed on me during a really fun shoot so I then decided I had to get the M6 TTL!
What’s RA4? The…[Read more]

Johnny : Thanks for your comments — well, RA4 is the standard Colour Print process now — it used to be EP2 which was done at 32oc and took a lot longer, then KODAK brought out the RA4 paper and chemicals — developer is 45 SECONDS at 35oC as against 3.5 MINUTES for EP2 — yes I used an old lens hood which came with the Camera and luckily there…[Read more]

Rangefinder-Photography 1 year, 2 months agoMy favourite M camera isn’t made by Leica, rather it is a Zeiss Ikon ZI with a set of Zeiss ZM lenses to go with it. Nice!

Rangefinder-Photography 1 year, 4 months agoHave acquired and been using a Contax G2 and a set of Zeiss G primes recently. Very nice camera and really lovely lenses. I have also been trying out Fuji Superia 200 in place of my more usual 160C and really like it. Rangefinder-Photography 1 year, 4 months agoTook my LEICAS to the Philippines last August — but I also took my Free Gift Zeiss CONTINA for B&W, 45mm f2.8 Tessar lens was very good — I will show a couple of colour FUJI SUPERIA 200 with LEICA and B&W of the Cebu Images Camera Club with the CONTINA, as I was a Guest Judge for a print competition there — flash was Miranda 630 CD, FP4+…[Read more]
